Humanity survived—but only barely.

Years after the Yokai War devastated civilization, the survivors struggle to rebuild among the ruins of the old world. In the barony of West Linn, fourteen-year-old Tokiro spends his days exploring the remnants of a forgotten age with his closest friends. But while he dreams of adventure and a future beyond the shadow of the Yokai War, forces far older and darker are already moving around him.

Elsewhere, Mason, brother to the ruling daimyo, has discovered something that should not exist: a strange crystalline residue left behind by the monsters that nearly destroyed humanity. While others fear it, Mason sees possibility. Power. A chance to heal a broken world.

But every discovery comes with a price.

As ancient horrors stir beyond the veil separating worlds, friendships will be tested, loyalties will fracture, and the line between salvation and damnation will begin to disappear. What starts as a story of childhood wonder and hard-won hope may become the beginning of a new catastrophe.
